Ferro Chrome Lignosulphonate-UNICF Deflocculant

General Description

UNIFC Deflacculant acceptable deflocculant and fluid loss additive in all types of water-based systems. Exhibits superior deflocculating ability, even in the presence of contaminants and elevated temperatures. UNIFC Deflacculant is a multi-purpose deflocculant and gel-strength reducer, temperature stabilizer, inhibitor, and filtration- control additive for use in all water-base systems-wells

Applications

It is effective for viscosity control and fluid loss-reduction in all water-base mud systems, including freshwater, brackish water, seawater, salt, lime, gyp, and potassium systems. The product has proven to have superior deflocculating capabilities, even in the presence of contaminants and elevated temperatures. Due to the product’s low pH, UNIFC Deflacculant treatments require additional caustic soda, or an alternatives alkaline material, to maintain a consistent pH. UNIFC Deflacculant is most effective in mud systems with an alkaline pHin the range of 9 to 11. For lower pH systems, the product may be premixed in a higher-alkalinity solution prior to being added to the active mud system.

Recommended Treatment

Normal treatments of UNIFC Deflacculant range from 1 to 12 lb/bbl (2.85 to 34.2 kg/m3). Initial treatments usually range from 1 to 6 lb/bbl (2.85 to 17.1 kg/m3), depending on the mud system, solids concentrations and the desired results; treatments can be added to the system through the mud hopper

Limitations

• Most effective in alkaline systems with a pH of 5 or above.
• Contains chrome which may not be acceptable for all applications, depending on local environmental regulations and considerations; a chrome-free lignosulfonate is available for these applications.
